LAE Image Awards


LAE named its 2018 Image Award recipients at the 2018 Representative Assembly. 

Lafayette Parish Association of Educators member, Jonathan Cole, was awarded the prestigious Teacher Image Award. School psychologist,Vicki Gilbeau, also from LPAE, was awared the 2018 Ancillary Image Award. Bernetta Ambres, a principal from St. John the Baptist Parish was honored with the 2018 Administrator Image Award. All recipients proved to be the best in their respective fields in achieving successful professional practice, advocacy for the profession, community engagement, leadership in professional development, and attention to diversity.

Other individuals were honored with LAE's other awards:

Deyshia Hargrave received the 2018 LAE Courage Award for her relentless bravery in standing up for her Vermilion Parish colleagues and her students when the school board voted on a controversial pay raise for the superintendent.

The 2018 Human and Civil Right Trailblazer Award winners, Kevin Davis and Corey Jack,won because of their display of creativity, determination, perseverance, and extraordinary courage in achieving human and civil rights.

The First Lady, Donna Edwards, was honored for her continued dedication to being a champion for the public schools and students of Louisiana.

The next round of Image Award applications are due mid-February 2019. We'll post the specific deadline for submissions toward the end of 2018. In the meantime, check out the nomination packets for all award categories (provided below) to learn more about nomination requirements:
